YAY!!! We are coming up on holiday giving season! I love to be able to give back to the community in any way possible and right around the corner is my favorite of all – Help Portrait! What is Help Portrait you ask? It is an amazing movement created by successful photographer, Jeremy Cowart to spread joy, love, smiles and photographs to those who may not have the chance otherwise.
All around the globe, groups of photographers collaborate, organize and volunteer their time to this movement. On the same day, all of these groups set up camp, photograph and deliver images to those in need. It’s truly an amazing gift that we can and should give. This years Help Portrait is to take place on December 10. The local Minneapolis chapter has chosen the High School for the Recording Arts.
The charter school works with youth who have dropped out of or are at risk of dropping out of traditional high school, as well as students who are otherwise at-risk. A significant portion of their enrolled students are homeless and many are already parents themselves. We have the potential to photograph 200+ students and faculty members on December 10th!!
I’m so excited to help at this event once again this year. Last year’s event was an absolute rollercoaster of happiness, overwhelming gratitude, and even a few tears. It’s seriously one of the most important things I’ve been a part of. You can check out last years Help Portrait post HERE!!
